DEXTER, MI — This summer, the Dexter District Library invites the public to step into a world of nostalgia, artistry, and inspiration with Echoing the Past: An Exhibit of Vintage Poster Design and Illustration, featuring the work of local artist and designer Steve Burdick.

Running from June 16 to August 15, 2025, the exhibit showcases Burdick’s evocative fusion of original paintings and vintage-inspired typography. Drawing from the golden age of travel and botanical posters, the collection offers a contemporary interpretation of classic poster art—rich with character, color, and the artist’s personal connection to place.

Inspired by the timeless charm of vintage design, Burdick’s pieces reflect his favorite landscapes—from the shores of Lake Michigan and the beaches of California and Hawaii to the everyday beauty found in floral blossoms. A painter and graphic designer by trade, Burdick began blending his illustrations with historic-style typography during a quiet winter season, sparking a new creative direction that honors the past while telling a modern story.

“Each piece is a tribute,” says Burdick, “to the places I love, the design traditions that have shaped me, and the enduring appeal of well-crafted visual storytelling.”

Don’t miss this visually stunning and heartfelt celebration of vintage poster art. Free and open to the public during library hours.
